A year after Act 3, The Art of Growing Older was published, Adrian died of cancer. Judy never imagined widowhood would arrive in her early 60s, leaving her facing an unchosen future. Since Adrian’s death, what has helped her most to manage grief, has been meeting other widows. With a neighbour, she co-founded Cambridge Widows, an informal social group that meets regularly in Cambridge. Most of the women are in Act 3, but we also run events, such as choirs and outings for any person whose life partner has died.
